Unsettled Archive is an installation consisting of closed wooden cabinets embedded with rectangular stone blocks. Inside each cabinet, a hidden audio track plays the sound of woodworking. The stones resemble sealed volumes, while the ambiguous sound—suggesting either construction or demolition—creates a sense of suspended process.

The work originates from the artist’s personal experience of spatial displacement due to urban transformation. Rather than critiquing demolition policies, the piece focuses on how individuals respond emotionally to the loss or interruption of familiar space. It explores themes of instability, memory, and the uncertain sense of belonging that follows forced change.

By combining physical opacity with unseen sound, Unsettled Archive addresses how memory can remain unresolved—unclassified, unspoken, and ongoing.
